Cooks original "Go-To" tackle storage system was designed by Darrel Cook and Leroy Perkins in Jonesboro Arkansas.
Darrel started with the idea for a rack to hang packaged baits, such as tube baits, plastic worms, etc. under the
deck lids on his boat. He went to his friend, Leroy who has bass fished with Darrel for twenty years.
Leroy designs machines, using CAD (Computer Aided Design). He asked him if he could make a good drawing of his
idea in CAD, and help get some proto types built, Leroy agreed. While he was working on the drawing he thought
it sure would be nice if this system could also be used to hang spinner baits and buzz baits. During the time he
and Darrel spent fishing, they became aggravated frequently when their spinner baits came out of the tackle box
tangled with the skirts matted and ruined (See lower left photo). This prompted a design change by Leroy that
would allow the rack to be used for both packaged and spinner baits. Eight proto types were built and installed
in Darrel's boat, in the previously unused dead space under the deck lids of both rod lockers, and he also mounted
one in a wet storage compartment to be used for miscellaneous items. Almost immediately Darrel began to realize
the benefits of what he and Leroy had invented. Darrel does a lot of tournament fishing and eliminated several
tackle boxes (upper right photo) immediately after loading up the storage system. He has been using them for
2 years and has run in some very rough water, including several tournaments on the Mississippi River. Darrel
reports that he has not found a dropped bait yet, nor are the spinner baits tangled or skirts matted.
This convinced Darrel that other fishermen would appreciate this unique device. Cooks "Go-To" Tackle
storage system is compatible with virtually all boats with horizontal deck lids.
This tackle storage system is American made and always will be!
